PCB Spacers or PCB standoffs as they are commonly known, are designed to mount a printed circuit board (PCB) in PCB assemblies, such as computers and are essential in securing boards tightly to the chosen device.
The main difference between a PCB standoff and a spacer is that a standoff is threaded on both ends while a spacer is typically unthreaded with an inside clearance hole. A standoff is used to create space between a printed circuit board and another surface, while a spacer is used to create space between two objects.
Both PCB standoffs and spacers can be made from various materials such as plastic, metal or nylon, and come in different shapes and sizes to fit various application requirements.
To give you an idea of the breadth of our range, we stock the following – threaded spacers, nylon PCB spacers, plastic PCB standoffs, PCB standoff pillars and many more. Mounting type is a key element to consider too so we stock mounting spacers with various mounting options such as non-threaded, reverse locking, and double-sided and of course, choosing from mounting types A and B is taken care of too.
The materials and sizes in our selection vary, to ensure we have the right spacers for your projects including plastic spacers, nylon spacers and many more.
We have put together A Guide to PCB Spacers and A Guide to PCB Standoffs over on our Knowledge Centre because our range is quite large and so there are many types and styles to consider when ensuring the correct standoffs and spacers for your applications.
Designed to mount easily on chassis with plastic SR snap rivet. Allows mounting to a range of panel thicknesses, up to .341” thick. Button head on rivet for minimal protrusion on chassis underside
These innovative spacers are mounted to the panel with a rivet that is designed into the part. As you push the head of the spacer down, the legs expand locking it into place. They are available in 13 metric spacer lengths in a UL94 V-2 rated nylon.
These are edge locking supports that require no hole in the top board. They have an integrated locking pin on the bottom to prevent rotation. The UBM grips the PC Board on the side and the UBMC grips the board and is easily released. They have a wide base that minimizes rocking.
These spacers snap together on top of each other to stack any number of boards. Item MB-1-156 Can top off the stack
These spacers are locking on both ends. They are availabe in two different styles and many spacer options
These supports have a locking bayonet nose on one side and a cupped base which completely covers the hole and adds stability
These spacers are mounted on both sides with a low profile two-prong fastener. One side is locking and the other is a releasable snap-fit. They have a shoulder at the base for locating purposes to facilitate automated assemble. These come in several styles and spacers
The standard snap-lock support is ideal for quick assembly in PCB stacking applications and the snap-lock and snap-fit features add a secure hold and an ease of application
These spacers are locking on both ends. They are availabe in two different styles and many spacer options
Essentra's range of PCB Spacers, Pillars & Supports includes these PCB Support Pillars made from Nylon 6/6 with a flame resistance rating of UL94 V2.
Also known as PCB Lock; these PCB Pillars are mounted on both sides with a low profile, two-prong fixing. One end of the PCB Support is locking and the other is a releasable snap fit connection.
Color: Natural
These spacers have a locking two-prong design. Both ends of these supports are locking. Available in several sizes and style for different spacers, hole sizes and panel thicknesses
These unique supports act as a spring the pin is inserted into the spacer. The part flexes and can provide continuous support to the PCB
These spacers have a locking teardrop design. These snap into very small holes and leave a very low protrusion over the panel. Available in many sizes and styles
PCB Supports come with a double-sided adhesive tape with a release tab for quick installation. It locks onto the board but is releasable with a pinch.
