These knurled nuts have a conical design. They feature a knurled outer surface that ensures a secure grip, allowing them to be tightened and loosened quickly and easily without the use of tools. In addition, the textured pattern improves grip, eliminates slippage and ensures a solid hold.
The tapered design also provides greater pressure distribution, resulting in a more even and secure tightening. Its plastic material allows it to withstand repeated use exposed to various weather conditions and resist corrosion or rust. Common applications include electronics, automotive, industrial machinery and switchboards.
Thumb Nuts, also known as Knurled Nuts, are a type of nut with a knurled outside diameter (surface). This design facilitates manual tightening by hand, and also secures the nut into a handle or cover.
Our knurled thumb nut offer features plastic thumb nuts made from Nylon 6/6; a strong, tough and durable material that is ideal for connecting elements and other technical components. It has self-lubricating properties, and is resistant to moisture, vapour and salt water. Operational temperatures can go up to 100 to 120C, temporarily for non-critical parts. Many nylons are self-extinguishing.
Our nylon thumb nut range also includes options made from Nylon with 30% glass fibre compound. This option is resistant to numerous fluids and chemicals, and is ideal for technical products requiring high dimensional stability and durability at higher operating temperatures. It has good strength and stiffness, in combination with good impact qualities. Excellent for heavy duty handles.
We also offer natural Polycarbonate (PC) plastic knurled thumb nuts. The strong PC material provides an aesthetically pleasing joining solution for applications in Retail and Point of Sale, for example.
